Light Based Clock for visually impaired

I made this clock for my father for his birthday. Since some years he has lost most of his vision and with the design of the clock I tried to make it easy for him to read the time without having to recognize the position of some small clock hands.

The Clock is based on a custom board populated with 60 APA102 RGB LEDs. For rapid development of the clock I used a Arduino Mini clone (I started the Project not long before the birthday). The board is milled on my CNC mashine.

The board fits inside a cheap clock that I bought for 5€. As a diffusor I used some acrylic that are 40% transculent.

The clockface is laser cut from black self-adhesive foil using my CNC mashine and a cheap 200mW laserdiode from eBay.
